Die Accelerator
Ruggedly built, yet exceptionally versatile, the ASC Die Accelerator combines speed and accuracy for maximum output.
The ASC Die Accelerator is a self-contained, heavy-duty machine capable of working with any type press. The advanced features of the ASC Die Accelerator offer numerous advantages to manufacturers in the roll forming industry.
Features
Improved
inventory control
Increased line speed
Higher accuracy
Reduced scrap
Fewer field claims
Accuracy
Through closed-loop control, the rate of the accelerating die set is
matched to the speed of the panel, ensuring very precise cut-to-length capabilities. This
synchronization of motions gives the ASC Die Accelerator a shearing accuracy to 1/16"
(2mm) at speeds up to 200 feet per minute (61m/min), and higher speeds (300+fpm, 92 m/min)
are easily attainable. This high-precision cutting increases productivity on the line
while reducing the amount of scrap and field claims.
Closed Loop
The ASC Die Accelerator incorporates a closed-loop cut cycle which utilizes a
variable-speed, reversing AC or DC servo motor, coupled to a heavy-duty gear reducer. The
rack is secured to the die set by a self-aligned rod end coupling. As the cycle is
activated, the motor rotates the gear, which in turn drives the rack and die set
downstream. When the cut is made, the motor reverses and the rack and die set return to
the home position.
Rugged Construction
Bases and frames feature all-steel, welded construction. All materials and components are
selected for heavy-duty industrial use at maximum duty cycles.
CNC-500 Controller
The Die Accelerator includes its own ASC CNC-500 controller, with a
CRT screen and detachable keyboard, allowing easy viewing and operator access.
Operation
The CNC-500 is very user friendly, allowing fast operator training.
The software may be used with or without a host computer. In "stand-alone"
operation, the system operates as a simple "length-and-quantity" batch
controller. When used with a host computer, the CNC-500 allows paperwork-free exchange of
production and manufacturing information. The versatile CNC-500 gives the convenience of
automated manufacturing plus the flexibility of manual operation.
The system can also be configured for a variety of marking, printing, bar coding and labeling functions, as well as custom control functions for line operations.
Data Exchange
The host computer can send cut list orders to the CNC-500 at operator request, saving
order-entry time and eliminating errors. The operator selects from a list of available
orders, based on information about the order.
Information relayed to the CNC-500 may range from simple cut list details to full order parameters, including customer information, shipping/billing data and handling notes. This information can be viewed by the operator, and incorporated into labeling and marking operations.
